Head Coach Report The 2007 Welsh Age Groups and Youth Championship took place at the Wales National Pool, Swansea last month and once again, Aberaeron Swimming Club produced a Welsh Champion, following previous years successes. Nine swimmers from the club gained qualifying times to be able to compete in the competition. Carys Evans (11) had an outstanding weekend, becoming girls 11&U Welsh Champion in 4 events, 200m Freestyle, 200m IM, 100 butterfly and 400m Freestyle. This is a tremendous achievement in itself, but Carys also gained silver in 200m backstroke, 4th in 100m backstroke & 100 breaststroke and 5th in 200m breaststroke. To become Welsh Champion in one event is a great accomplishment, but to gain 4 golds in one competition of this high standard is incredibly rare. This has only been possible due to Carys’ hard work in the pool and dedication to her sport. Alys Metson gained silver in girls 14/15 yrs 100m breaststroke and attained 3 National Qualifying times for 100m Breaststroke, 100m & 50m freestyle. This enables Alys to swim in the British Youth Championships held in Sheffield in July. Rupert Elliott was the third member of the team to claim a medal, winning bronze in the boys 12&U 1500m freestyle. Also swimming in the competition were, Luke Thomas, Emilie Elliott, Georgina Dowling, Emlyn Lewis, Paige Denyer & Hawys Hatley. Click HERE To Go To Main Page |
